1. A hypothetical common Scandinavian language often agreed to be spoken in Nordic meetings. In practice it means that each participant adheres to the standard form of Swedish, Danish or Norwegian according to his/her preference thus facilitating mutual understanding and avoiding need for simultaneous interpretation. There appears to be no established English translation to the term, but "Scandinavian" is a good bet, especially if explained for those who are not familiar with the concept.
